​Hello! My name is Dakshya Karki and I am a graduate student at University of Illinois Chicago in Dr. Rachel Poretsky's  lab. 

My PhD research is related to wastewater surveillance in the Chicago River Waterways (CAWS), particularly antimicrobial resistance (AMR) genes, heavy metal tolerance genes (HMTGs) and biomonitoring with bivalves.

I am also broadly interested in conservation, and invertebrates!
